NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital’s Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer Auerlia G. Boyer, RN, MBA, and Group Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Laura L. Forese, MD, MPH, recently announced a senior leadership appointment for a member of the Department of Anesthesiology. Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology Peter M. Fleischut, MD, was appointed Associate Chief Innovation Officer of NYP on March 24th. This role builds on the excellent and extensive work Dr. Fleischut has done in the Department of Anesthesiology in introducing information technology and data analytics into our clinical, education, and research missions.
[[{"attributes":{},"fields":{}}]]As Associate Chief Innovation Officer, Dr. Fleischut will oversee numerous efforts across the Hospital to implement innovative technologies, mobile applications, and data analytics. These projects will seek to improve patient care and the patient experience, as well as Hospital operations, and also improve overall financial performance. This leadership position is an outgrowth of the work Dr. Fleischut has done here at Weill Cornell Anesthesiology as a member of the faculty and as the Director of the Center for Perioperative Outcomes (CPO). The CPO has been a force within the Department and College in integrating the use of data analytics to study perioperative care and improve patient outcomes, while also using mobile applications to improve the educational experience for residents and fellows. Under Dr. Fleischut’s leadership, the CPO has also been a key part of helping the College build partnerships with the private sector, including the New York City technology community. Dr. Fleischut will utilize all of these experiences in his new role with the Hospital.
A graduate of the University of Delaware with an MD from Thomas Jefferson University, Dr. Fleischut has received several awards, including the David A. Leach Award for Innovation in Quality from the Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education, the John M. Eisenberg Patient Safety and Quality Award from the National Quality Forum and The Joint Commission, and the Weill Cornell Medical College Healthcare Leadership Award. In 2013, he was named one of twelve ‘Up and Comers’ by Modern Healthcare, recognizing healthcare leaders under the age of 40, and was alsonamed Physician-of-the-Year at NYP/Weill Cornell. The Department of Anesthesiology extends sincere congratulations to Dr. Fleischut on his new appointment.
