Welcome to the Center for Perioperative Outcomes (CPO), the Department of Anesthesiology's dedicated health outcomes research center. The CPO aims to foster excellence in the field of perioperative outcomes research, education and patient-focused services through its collaborative and innovative approach.
Since 2013, the CPO has attracted researchers at all career levels. We provide statistical, methodological and information technology resources to faculty, fellows, residents and students, along with the opportunity to build professional relationships with leaders in national outcomes research.
The CPO has been integral in supporting the medical education mission of the Department of Anesthesiology: to provide state-of-the-art anesthesiology education in a collegial and supportive environment. We mentor and guide beginning researchers and scholars throughout their training, with the goal of producing graduates who feel comfortable in any clinical situation or scholarly research activity. This hands-on educational environment benefits both inexperienced and seasoned researchers, and facilitates opportunities ranging from assistance with scientific presentations to publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
The CPO is committed to improving operational efficiencies for clinical practices. We leverage real-time feedback from the electronic health record to enhance practice performance. We utilize all requisite analytical tools that advance the science of perioperative clinical care.
With the unwavering support of Dr. Hugh C. Hemmings, Jr., the senior associate dean for research at Weill Cornell Medicine and the Joseph F. Artusio, Jr. professor and chair of the Department of Anesthesiology, the CPO continues to proactively respond with innovative solutions to ever-evolving priorities in medicine, nursing, information technology, biostatistics, operations and research.
We invite and warmly welcome you to explore the opportunities of the CPO.
