Spotlight on Research at 14th Annual Expo

The Department of Anesthesiology held its 14th annual Research Exposition on November 21, highlighting the work of the basic science division, Anesthesia Trials Group and Center for Perioperative Outcomes. A full house of faculty, residents, staff and guests turned out for presentations on topics ranging from chronic pain in refugee populations to the opioid crisis.

Dr. Peter Goldstein, a professor of anesthesiology, discussed his work to develop a new non-opioid therapy for neuropathic pain, and offered insights on navigating the grant process. Dr. Lisa Q. Rong, an assistant professor of clinical anesthesiology, presented her research on echocardiography and novel imaging techniques in cardiac surgical patients.
